A Gentle Welcome

A virtual private practice providing somatically integrated psychotherapy for adults across North Carolina

I believe your body has a lot to tell us. Therapy can help you slow down enough to hear it.

Meet Macie

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, and my work begins by creating a space for you to exhale. To let your guard down, come as you are, and be met without judgment or pressure.

My path into this work was shaped by both curiosity and lived experience, giving me a deep appreciation for how exhausting it can be to carry so much internally while still showing up in the world. I don’t see myself as the expert on your life; you are. My role is to be alongside you, help you listen more kindly to yourself, and support you in coming home to who you are.

When I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me wandering a local makers’ market, getting outside (and trying not to overheat), practicing yoga with varying levels of grace, or looking for something delicious to eat. I value warmth, humor, and real connection, and I try to bring that same energy into our work.

My Specializations

Body Image & Eating Disorders

This is a place where your body is not a problem to be solved. I work with adults experiencing eating disorders, self-criticism, and distress related to food and body. My approach is weight-inclusive and anti-diet, which means I don’t view body size or weight as a measure of health, worth, or success. Therapy with me emphasizes attunement to internal cues while exploring the emotional, relational, and cultural factors that shape one’s relationship with food and body. This can be especially supportive for those who have felt misunderstood in prior care and/or desire to reconnect with their body as a source of wisdom rather than judgment or punishment.

Hand Through Mirror

Young Adults

I am passionate about supporting people in their 20s and 30s as they navigate new life phases, examine their upbringings, and manage the unspoken pressures of early adulthood. This season of life can often bring up questions around relationships, purpose, boundaries, and values, especially amid academic/career, familial, and societal expectations. Therapy with me offers a supportive, collaborative space for young adults to slow down, gain clarity, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with who they are becoming.

Trauma & Anxiety

Sometimes your mind and body are responding to life in ways that feel confusing, overwhelming, or hard to change. Trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress can shape how you relate to yourself, your body, your relationships, and the world around you. I specialize in helping adults understand these responses with curiosity rather than criticism and develop new ways of navigating them. Therapy with me can look like working toward greater safety, self-trust, and coping tools that actually fit your life. I’m especially committed to supporting women, femmes, queer, and questioning folks, while honoring the ways identity and systemic oppression shape our experiences.

Life Transitions
& Self-Discovery

Whether you’re navigating a career change, entering or leaving a significant relationship, relocating, or grieving what once was, life transitions can feel both exciting and deeply unsettling. These moments often bring uncertainty, self-doubt, and questions about what truly matters. Therapy with me focuses on creating alignment between your inner world and the life you want to live. For some clients, this includes spiritual/religious exploration such as meaning-making, intuition, ritual, or connection to something larger than oneself. These elements are always optional and client-led.

My Background & Approach

My therapeutic work is grounded in over 10 years of experience supporting individuals through higher education, wellness coaching, and nonprofit community health. I take a holistic approach to therapy, recognizing that your health and well-being are shaped by more than your thoughts and emotions. Together, we'll explore the full context of your life, including your relationships, habits, routines, environment, body, and lifestyle factors like sleep, stress, movement, and nourishment, to create meaningful changes that feel sustainable in your everyday life.

I blend trauma-informed talk therapy (top-down) with somatic therapy (bottom-up) to support holistic mind-body healing. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic and mindfulness-based practices, attachment theory, solution-focused work, and other trauma-informed approaches through a social justice lens.

Sessions may include pausing to notice nervous system responses through breath, sensations, tension, thoughts, and emotions; guided imagery; IFS parts work; psychoeducation; and gentle movement to bring awareness to unconscious patterns and protective strategies that may no longer serve you.

I welcome conversations about how therapy might complement other forms of care and support you may already be exploring, including yoga, meditation, breathwork, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, functional medicine, sound healing, spiritual/religious practices, and other wellness resources.

Pricing

Our initial intake session is $180 for 60 minutes, with ongoing therapy sessions at $150 for 45 minutes. I offer self-pay only and am out-of-network with all insurance plans. Working outside of insurance allows us to tailor therapy to you rather than letting insurance requirements determine the type, frequency, or duration of your care. If your insurance plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill that you may submit for possible reimbursement. Because coverage varies, I recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific benefits. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spaces and a discounted rate for students. If cost is a concern, please reach out so we can explore your options together.
